Post by shipstamps » Tue Aug 19, 2008 11:48 am

The 51/2p stamp depicts the Appledore life-boat Louisa Anne Hawker (Official No. 965). She was the gift of G.P.D. Hawker, and is a Watson type with twin 60 h.p. Gardner oil engines. Her weight with gear is 23 tons 11 cwt. She cost approximately £40,000 and was built in 1962.

Dear Sir,
Where can I obtain some of the 'Louisa Anne Hawker' stamps. I have been the owner of LAH since 2003 and was fascinated to see that she is depicted on a stamp. She has been berthed in Miri, Sarawak, where I reside, since 2007 and she will be 50 years old in June this year!
Kind regards - Seton Kendrick

I wonder if we could have a photo and maybe the story of how she came to be in Sarawak?
I will make enquiries to see if I can find the stamp.
