Built as a cruise vessel under yard No F31 by Chantiers de L’Atlantique (Alsthom), St Nazaire, France for VISION OF THE SEAS, Monrovia.
29 October 1996 laid down.
01 September 1997 launched as the VISION OF THE SEAS one sister the RHAPSODY OF THE SEAS.
Tonnage 78,340 gt, 46,263 nt, 5,000 dwt. Dim. 278.94 x 32.20 x 15.85m, length bpp. 234.7m, draught 7.9m.
Powered diesel electric by four Wärtsilä M3HPD 300-170/1 diesel engines, twin electro motors each 25,200 kW. Total power 52,800 kW. Speed 22.0 knots.
2 Bow thrusters and 1 stern thruster each 1750 kW.
Capacity for 2,416 passengers and 765 crew.
15 April 1998 delivered to owner, managed by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Oslo, Norway.
IMO no 9116876, home port Monrovia, Liberia.

VISION OF THE SEAS is a Vision-class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International, the last of her class. Her maiden voyage was on May 2, 1998, following which she sailed for a year in Europe before being moved to other routes.
Itinerary
In the summer, VISION OF THE SEAS is based in Northern European ports and during the fall the ship sails across the Atlantic Ocean for the winter season and sails Caribbean cruises from Tampa, Florida. The ship will start sailing itineraries out of New Orleans in late 2018.[3] She also sails winter itineraries out of Galveston and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Design
The cruise ship has a deadweight tonnage of 6,300 tons and a gross tonnage of 78,491. VISION OF THE SEAS has a length of 279 metres (915 ft) and a beam of 32.2 metres (106 ft). VISION OF THE SEAS was launched in 1998. The draft of the vessel is 7.63 metres (25.0 ft). The cruise ship has 10 passenger decks and capacity for 2,416 guests. VISION OF THE SEAS has a crew of 765.
12 May 2000 she was transferred to Bahamas registry with home port Nassau.
In 2013, VISION OF THE SEAS received a dry dock refit.

2019 In service, same name and owners.
