Built as a tank landing ship LST by Missouri Valley Bridge & Iron Co, Evansville, IN for the USA Navy. Launched as USS LST-1108 on 1 February 1945; sponsored by Mrs. Edward H. Barnard she was one of the 542 class.
Displacement 1,625 light, 4,080 full load. Dim.99.97 x 15.24 x 4.30 (maximum draught)
Powered by two General Motors 12-567A, each 900hp diesel engines, two propellers, speed 11.6 knots during trials, and two rudders
Armament 2 twin – 40mm, 4 single – 40mm and 12 single – 20mm guns.
Carried two LCVP boats.
Crew 13 officers and 147 men.
Troop accommodation for 16 officers and 147 men.
Cargo capacity varied with mission – payloads between 1600 and 1900 tons.
27 February 1945, commissioned, Lt. C. V. Lieb in command.
During World War II she was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific.
Following World War II, LST-1108 performed occupation duty in the Far East until early December 1945. She was decommissioned on 15 August 1946 and struck from the Navy list on 25 September that same year.
On 10 January 1948, the ship was sold to the Argentine Navy where she served as CABO SAN VICENTE (BDT-14).
1962 Disarmed at Rio Santiago Naval Base.
1963 Struck from the Argentine Naval register in 1963.
31 March 1966 sold for scrap to Action S.A., Argentina.
