SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR cruise vessel

Built as a research vessel under yard No 02510 by Admiralty Shipyard, Leningrad, the Soviet Union for the Soviet Government.
12 April 1988 laid down.
23 August 1991 launched as the AKADEMIK NIKOLAY PILYUGIN.
Tonnage 28,550 gt, 9,839 net, 3,342 dwt. Dim. 170.69 x 21.80 x 6.80m.
Powered by four Wärtsilä 8L38 diesel engines, 21,000 kW. Two controllable pitch propellers, speed 19.5 knots.
Autumn 1991 the work to complete the vessel was stopped after the fall of the Soviet State.
1997 The hull was towed to Genoa, Italy.
25 August 1998 sold to Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, where after the outfitting and accommodation block was completed in 1999 by the yard of T. Mariotti, Genoa.
Passenger accommodation for 504 passengers and 340 crew.
25 August 1998 delivered to Celtic Pacific Two, Hamilton, Bermuda under the name SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR. Managed by Radisson Seven Seas Cruises/
Imo No 9064126.

June 2001 maiden cruise.
Seven Seas Navigator is a luxury cruise ship operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises. She entered service for Radisson Seven Seas Cruises in 1999. Ninety percent of her cabins have their own private verandas.[2] She has no sister ships. The hull was constructed by the former USSR (Russia) as a satellite tracking ship. The hull was purchased by RSSC and the superstructure was finished by Mariotti Yards, Italy.
History
In 2004, the ship was featured and used as a focal point for the movie After the Sunset. The movie starred Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek.
February 2005 chartered as hotel ship at Jacksonville, USA during the Super Bowl Finals.
In the spring of 2006, Radisson Seven Seas Cruises re-branded as Regent Seven Cruises. The Seven Seas Navigator continues to sail under the brand Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
October 2011 transferred to the flag of the Bahamas, with homeport Nassau.

The Navigator underwent a $40 million refurbishment in March/April 2016 that upgraded the common areas and suites.

2019 In service, same name, and owners given as Navigator Vessel Co. LLC, care of NCL.
