Guernsey Christmas stamp 2020

Post by aukepalmhof » Thu Dec 10, 2020 7:33 pm

For Christmas, Guernsey issued a set of stamps under which one stamp shows us a lifeboat with standing on the bow, Santa.

Anyone who has visited Guernsey during the festive season will have experienced the magical atmosphere and events, which take place around the Island during November and December. Without a doubt, one of the most memorable events in Guernsey's festive calendar is the Christmas lights switch-on - an important job, which, for several decades, has been carried out by Santa, accompanied by his Chief Elf. Having arrived by lifeboat Santa joins the annual festive parade where he is accompanied by many colorful fairy-tale characters.
The lifeboat depict on the stamp is the SPIRIT OF GUERNSEY 17-04, but this year she was not used due to that the lifeboat was out of order and under repair after she was damaged during a rescue operation. The lifeboat used this year was the CLACTON one of the Atlantic class of the RNLI.
