CAPTAIN NICOLAE LASCAR BOGDAN was a torpedo river vedette from the "Captain Nicolae Lascăr Bogdan" class, endowed with the Romanian navy, during the First World War.
Specifications
She was part - along with the torpedo vedette who were named after some heroes of the war of independence: MAJOR CONSTANTIN ENE, CAPTAIN MIHAIL ROMANO, MAJOR DIMITRIE GIURESCU, MAJOR GHEORGHE SONTU, MAJOR NICOLAE GRIGORE IOAN, LIEUTENANT DIMITRIE CALINESCU, and CAPTAIN WALTER MARACINEANU - from a series of eight similar ships, ordered by the Romanian state at the Thames Iron Works & Shipbuilding Co. shipyards from London, between 1907 and 1908. The ships had a displacement of 51 tons, is equipped with a 47 mm Skoda cannon, a machine gun. Maximum 6.5 mm and two torpedo launchers. Dim. length 30.5 m, beam 3.8 m, draught 0.7 m; 2 screws, 18 kn. She was fitted out with a searchlight.

Participation in operations
WWI
At the declaration of the mobilization in 1916, the torpedo vedette CAPTAIN NICOLAE LASCAR BOGDAN was commanded by Lieutenant Calistrat Andonie . During Romania's participation in the First World War, the ship participated in the operations of the Danube Flotilla performing missions to support the forces during the Battle of Turtucaia and military actions in Dobrogea.
Military actions in Dobrogea (1916)
The military actions in Dobrogea represented a series of operations, battles, and battles that took place between August 18 / September 1 - December 3/16, 1916 and had as the main objective the rejection of an attack carried out by the Bulgarian forces and the assurance of freedom of action. forces operating on the Transylvanian front.
In the second part of the campaign, the ships participated in missions to defend the Danube Delta.

Some of this class survived World War II, after some modernization. Mostly used as mine-sweeper during WWII.
