Post by aukepalmhof » Mon Dec 27, 2021 10:35 pm

Singapore issued in 2021 4 stamps for the 50th Anniversary of the Five Powere Defence Arrangement. Two of this stamps shows us silhouettes of warships.
By the stamp the Singapore Post gives:
Singapore, 1 November 2021 – – Singapore Post Limited (SingPost) today launched a set of stamps to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA).
The FPDA was formalised on 1 November 1971 by Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the United Kingdom. It was established as a pact to provide external defence for Malaysia and Singapore. Under the Arrangements, the five nations are to consult one another immediately in the event of armed threats or attacks on Malaysia or Singapore.
This set of four illustrated stamps showcases the strong people-to-people ties fostered among the five militaries and defence establishments over the past fifty years, as well as the deployment of air, land and sea assets from all five militaries in FPDA exercises.
This multilateral security grouping continues to evolve and contribute to regional peace and stability. While conventional elements have remained the mainstay of FPDA exercises, the FPDA has expanded and continued to build capacity in non-conventional areas such as counter-terrorism, maritime security, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, to keep pace with the evolving security landscape. Today, the FPDA remains an integral part of the regional security architecture, and continues to promote regional cooperation through regular exercises, dialogues and platforms for professional interaction.

50th anniversary
On 18 October 2021, FPDA celebrated its 50th anniversary with joint air and naval displays involving the ships and aircraft of the member countries. These were observed by Singaporean Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen and the High Commissioners of Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Prior to this, a two-week joint exercise had taken place, known as Exercise Bersama Gold in honour of the FPDA's golden jubilee. It was the first FPDA exercise held since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and involved 2,600 military personnel, air and maritime sea training exercises, and a virtual jungle warfare workshop. Participating ships included the Australian amphibious assault ship HMAS CANBERRA and New Zealand's HMNZS AOTEAROA replenishment tanker. The British destroyer also took part in the exercise but missed the final days due to technical issuesWhilst in the region at the time, UK Carrier Strike Group 21 did not participate in the exercise, likely due to the presence of United States Marine Corps on the aircraft carrier HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH.
