Post by aukepalmhof » Wed Aug 10, 2022 3:46 am

Mexico issued in 2021a set of 5 stamps and a Miniature Sheet were one stamp shows us a postman standing in a boat, which he pushed ahead with a punt pole. No more information on the watercraft.

The Mexican post gives on this issues:

Postman's Day is more than a trade, a tradition.
Many years ago; Before the Internet could even be imagined, the means of communication par excellence was epistolary, the exchange of letters was the only way to maintain communication between different places. This is how, among all the transcendental trades throughout the centuries, the figure of characters emerges who had the mission of keeping in touch; through writing, to peoples and nations. Messengers of good and even discouraging news.
The role of the postman has been so important that it could not be excluded from literature and cinematography, let us cite "The postman of Neruda" written by Antonio Skármeta, "The postman from Bagdad" by Marcos Calveiro and Miguel Ángel Díez, why not also Charles Bukowski's “Postman” or Jules Verne's “Miguel Strogoff” or the long-awaited postman as in “No one writes to the colonel”, where the titles and narratives revolved around these protagonists. From there you could jump to the cinematography to see them in the golden age of Mexican cinema represented by comic characters such as Cantinflas or Resorts in "Immediate delivery" and "The neighborhood postman" respectively.
Today, far from the romanticism and fantasy that could be built around this trade; The postmen remain in force in the daily life of society fulfilling that important task that they assumed, to deliver messages. Perhaps no longer the love letters that used to circulate, nor those of travelers who recounted their walk in the distance from home; however, now his arrival is longed for with other kinds of messaging; as a parcel with the emotion of receiving that long-awaited purchase or that promised gift, just to mention one of the many services that the mail delivers to recipients through postmen.
The Mexican Postal Service as a tribute to all those employees who continue to work for the good of others regardless of inclement weather or health conditions that may devastate the country, issues this postage stamp to thank all mail carriers who are always willing to do their job.
