Dutch Ships on a Calm Sea, Willem van de Velde (II), c. 1665
VOC painting:

A few warships lie on a calm sea. The sails are hoisted, and the anchors are lifted. The small squadron prepares for departure. A sloop with dignitaries rows past the ships to the sound of trumpets and salutes. As early as 1778, this painting was referred to as a special painting in an auction catalog: ?one of the best showpieces of this excellent sea painter?.
