RIVER NAVIGATION IN FRANCE

Post by aukepalmhof » Mon Mar 18, 2024 7:42 pm

River Navigation
The 2024 Stamp Festival concludes the theme 'Travel' in which the stamp shows people doing River Navigation.
The stamp shows a sailing yacht, the MS sheet shows a inland passenger boat, paddle boarding and a kayak.

In the four corners of France, the French are taking over rivers, torrents, lakes, seasides, canals... Ever more numerous, for a few hours or a few days, they indulge in the joys of pleasure boating, in all its forms. Sports kayak or comfortable hotel barge, solo windsurfing or group boat trip, peaceful, paddle or speedy dinghy, even a simple pedal boat: whatever the boat, on the water the view changes...
Europe's leading waterway network , our country is an exceptional playground. An entire ecosystem has been built around river tourism , combining activities such as cycling, hiking and guided cultural tours. Lovers of responsible “slow tourism” take the time to gently contemplate the landscapes in a new light. Along their route, the legacy of a long river tradition, remarkable works of art (lock, aqueduct, tunnel, boat lift, etc.) pique their curiosity. Each stop is an opportunity, as close as possible to the terroirs, to appreciate the French art of living, where oenology and gastronomy have pride of place.
France, with its thousands of lakes, ponds and bodies of water, its more than 5,000 km of coastline, even if only in mainland France, has seized the opportunity to also develop lake and seaside tourism accessible to all, environmentally friendly and low-polluting. In this context, fans of swimming and water sports can have a blast! A change of scenery is never far from freshwater or seawater beaches. Nearby, captivating natural sites, unexpected monuments and unsuspected local cultures await them. By going to encounter this precious heritage, they then live new experiences on earth.
