Sea Port Poti 150th Anniversary.

On this stamp issued by Georgia for the 150th anniversary of the Port of Poti, we see a scene in that port, when taken is not clear, most probably designed after a photo or painting of that port.
The George Post had not much info on this issues, below is what is given on the port web-site.

Sea Port of Poti with its historical, geographical location represents a crossroad of the Caucasian corridor. From the beginning of the 19-th century leading specialists stressed the necessity of building a major port at the mouth of the Rioni. In 1804 talks on the port construction officially started and in 1928-1829 specialists initiated investigation of the surroundings at the mouth of the river Rioni. First, Chadaev, Military Engineer and later designed the first projects on river transportation. In 60-s construction of the port according to Engineer Shavrov’s design was began.
In 1858 Poti was declared as a port and since that time some works have been conducted for a port and inner basin construction. The works were conducted by the Military Department of that time.
Since 1889 a new stage of the port construction starts. The project of the port construction from the Military Department went under Road Department. In September of the same year Colonel Mayer submitted a new design of the port extension and reconstruction and later the other design was elaborated by Professor N. Voznesenski, a Senior Engineer of the Commercial Port Arrangement Commission. And this was the project Niko Nikoladze, outstanding public figure started to carry out. With his support the mentioned design was finally adopted in 1899 and construction commenced. Nikoladze initiated and personally participated in building of the port main constructions, which was completed in 1905-1907. Since that time the port reconstruction has been ongoing.
Poti Sea Port extensive development layout envisages global projects. Blocking of the river Rioni and creation of a new water area is planned. For rehabilitation of the south breakwater, the Dutch government, EU and the Black Sea bank allocated 26 mln EURO. Works for installation of wind generator in the port extensive development area are ongoing.
EU and other foreign countries are actively involved in the port modernization process. They are well aware of Poti as a future port role in international carriage. In this context rail ferry complex is important, Poti-ILychevsk-Varna which connects Poti with Ukrainian and Bulgarian ports ensuring high level of turnover.
Nowadays the port is equipped with modern cargo handling facilities and in line with the European standards. The port has open and closed warehouses, supportive constructions, 8 cargo handling complex located at 15 berths of the “northern port” and “inner basin”, passenger station and berths for fishing fleet. Sea Port of Poti has all conditions to satisfy client’s different requirements regarding cargo and passenger carriage.
