LA SUISSE
Paddle steamer,operator compagnie Generale de Navigation sur le Lac Leman (CGN) Geneva.
Built 1910,Sulzer, Winterthur, 518 tons (displacement); 73,8m x 8.51/15.9m, 1,200 passengers.
Machinery compound diagonal by builders,1400hp, 29.1km/hr.
Route Lausanne-Evian-circuit of upper lake-Montreux-Lausanne.
Flagship of the Lake Geneva fleet, she is one of Europes finest paddle steamers. She was converted to oil firing In 1960, and a new boiler fitted In 1971. At the same time she received a major overhaul Including a new wheelhouse. Based at Laussanne, her regular roster includes a lunch cruise to Evian, and an anti-clockWise dircuit of the eastern half of the lake in the afternoon, with an additional crossing to Evain in the evening. The dining room is furnished in Belle Epoque style with her own restauranteur.
