Built as a trawler under yard No 1324 by Cochrane & Sons Ltd., Selby, U.K. for Akurgeiröi h/f Hafnarfjördur, Iceland.
26 October 1946 launched as the BJARNI RIDDARI. Fishing No GK 1
Tonnage 657 gross, 234 net, dim. 193.5 x 30.1 x 15.1ft.
Powered by one 3-cyl triple expansion steam engine manufactured by Amos & Smith, Hull, 1,000 hp.
August 1947 delivered.
1964 Sold to N.D. Lagoutis & Son S.A. Greece, renamed in NIKOLAOS.
1966 Converted in a reefer vessel, a diesel engine fitted in. Tonnage 769 gross.
While proceeding from Arricife on the Canary Islands Lanzarote to Haifa with a cargo of 310 tons frozen fish, she ran aground on rocks off Cape Barbas south of Villa Cisneros in lat. 22 12N and long. 16 49W on 08 August 1996, due to heavy weather and poor visibility. (Miramar gives: due to losing her propeller)
The entire crew was rescued by a Russian fishing vessel, which disembarked them at Las Palmas.
The wreck was subsequently presumed to have sunk after slipping off the rock.
