PARIZH ship-of-the-line 1849

The stamp shows us Rear Admiral Vladimir Ivanovich Istomin and the ship of the line PARIZH.
During the Battle of Sinop was he captain of that ship when she was the flagship of Rear Admiral Novosilskiy.

Built as a first rate wooden three decker ship-of-the-line at Nikolaev, Black Sea by the shipbuilder Chernyavskiy for the Russian Imperial Navy, Black Sea Fleet.
18 June 1847 laid down.
23 October1849 launched as the PARIZH one of the Apostolov class. She was named after the French city Paris and commemorates the entry of Russian troops in the French capital in 1815.
Tonnage 3,190 tons, displacement 4,790 tons. Dim. 209 x 57.10 x 25.3ft.
Armament: lower deck 28 – 68 pdr., tweendeck 34 – 36 pdr., upper deck 34 – 36 pdr., forecastle and quarter deck 24 – 24 pdr. gunnades, 2 – 14 pdr. carronades. 2 – 12 pdr. carronades and 2 – 8 pdr. carronades when built.

1850 Sailed from builders yard in Nikolaev to Sevastopol.
During 1851 till 1853 made cruises from Sevastopol in the Black Sea.
October 1853 she transported 1483 troops from Sevastopol to Sukhumi-kale, Abkhazia.
16 November 1853 joined the squadron of Rear-Admiral Novosilskiy as flagship.
18 November 1853 fought at Sinop she fired 3952 rounds, took 16 hits in which 1 man was killed and 16 wounded.
April 1854 stationed at Sevastopol Roads.
1855 Her armament was reduced to 82 guns, and crew 214 men.
28 August 1855 scuttled at Sevastopol.
Between 1857 and 1859 wreckage blew up and metal salvaged.

PARIZH-Russian ship-of-the-line 1849. In 1850,V.I.Istomin was appointed commander of the battleship Parizh (Париж), which would participate in the Battle of Sinop in 1853.
The design stamp is made after painting of Ewald.
