Ternan (ferry)

After a few letters and emails I have found the name of the ferry seen on the 2001 Europe stamp issued by Faroes Isl. The stamp was made from a recent photo, taken in 2001. The ship seen leaving the dock is the TERNAN, which means THE TERN. She sails between the island of Streymoy and Vgoy. On the picture she is leaving Vestnianna (on Streymoy) heading for Oyragjgv (on Vgoy). This route will cease within short time because of the new tunnel that has been built under the Vestmannasund (the sound between Streymoy and Vgoy, due to open in November this year. (2002)
