Built as an offshore support vessel under yard No 1312 by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. Kobe, Japan for the Japan Marine Science & Technology Centre, Yokosuka.
16 November 1979 keel laid down.
21 August 1980 launched as the NATSUSHIMA.
Tonnage 1,552 grt. 521 net, 582 dwt., dim. 67.35 x 13.00 x 6.3m.
The capacity of tanks: Fuel 365 tons, freshwater 234 tons, water ballast 266 tons.
Powered by two 4 SA 6-cyl diesel engines manufactured by Daihatsu Diesel Mfg. Co. Ltd., Moriyama, each 850 hp., trial speed 13.1 knots, service speed 12 knots.
29 October 1981 completed. Homeport Yokosuka.

She began after completing as a support ship for the SHINKAI 2000 in 1981 when the SHINKAI 2000 was retired from service in 2002 was the NATSUSHIMA modified and used as a support ship for ROV HYPER-DOLPHIN.

2010 In service. IMO No 7819785, owner given as Japan Agency for Marine Earth, Yokosuka, Japan and managed by Nippon Marine Enterprise Ltd., Yokosuka.
2016 Owned by Nissui Marine Kogyo Co. Ltd. Fukuoka, Japan. Renamed in CONCEPT, managed by Nippon Marine Enterprise Ltd., Yokosuka..

2021 In service, same name, and owner.
