BELGRANO or also given as GENERAL BELGRANO.
Given as a brig or brigantine in sources, the stamp depict her as brig rigged.
When and where built unknown.
Tonnage 175 ton, dim. 28.8 x 8.4 x 2.5m.
Armament 16 – 8pdrs.
Crew 80-120 men.
She was a unit of Brown’s squadron, which in February 1826 attacks the Brazilian garrison occupying Colonia de Sacramento, Uruguay.
The attack is repelled by the Brazilian forces, and Brown’s squadron returns to San Gabriel Island where on 26 February 1826 the BELGRANO sinks, after having sustained severe damage during the attack.
