AMIRAL LATOUCHE TRÉVILLE

Vietnam issued a stamp in 2011 for the Centenary when Ho Chi Minh boarded the French cargo vessel AMIRAL LATOUCHE TRÉVILLE at Nha Rong harbour, Vietnam.
He left Vietnam on 05 June 1911 under the name Nguyen Tat Thanh, (the future Ho Chi Minh) as an assistant cook; he left the vessel in Le Havre on the eve of World War I after more than two years on board the vessel.

The AMIRAL LATOUCHE TRÉVILLE was built as a cargo-passenger vessel by Ateliers et Chantiers de la Loire, St. Nazaire for the Compagnie des Chargeurs Reunis, Le Havre.
21 September 1903 launched as the AMIRAL LATOUCHE TRÉVILLE, named after the French Admiral Louis-René Levassor de Latoche Tréville (1745-1804).
Tonnage 5,572 gross, 7,200 dwt., dim. 124.10 x 15.2m, length bpp. 118.7m.
Triple Expansion steam engine, 2,800 hp, speed 12 knots.
February 1904 completed.

She was used in the liner service from France to the Far East.
21 April 1916 she arrived at Marseille from Manchuria with on board the Russian Expeditionary Force to fight against the German troops on the Western Front.

27 February 1925 was she in collision with the Norwegian steamer ANNA SKOGLAND by entering the port of Le Havre. She was slightly damaged.

11 March 1929 arrived Dunkirk where she was broken up by G. Duriez.
