The stamp issued in 1992 by the Marshall Islands depict General MacArthur who escaped from the Corregidor, Philippines on board the Motor Torpedo Boat PT-41, also depict on the stamp.
30 April 1941 laid down as the Motor Boat Submarine Chaser, PTC-21 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ. For the USA Navy.
Before completing reclassified in PT-41.
08 July 1941 launched.
Displacement 40 ton, dim. 23.47 x 5.82 x 1.40m. (draught).
Powered by three Packard V12M2500 gasoline engines, 3,600 shp, three shafts, speed 41 knots.
Armament : 2 – twin 0.50 val. Browning M2 machine guns, 4 – 18 inch torpedoes.
Crew 15.
23 July 1941 completed.
After commissioned put in service with the Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron ONE (PTRon 1) under command of Lt. William C. Specht.
12 August 1941 transferred to the Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THREE (PTRon 3) under command of Lt. John D. Bulkeley.
The squadron was shipped on board the GUADALUPE (AO-32) in August 1941 from the USA to the Philippines.
PTRon 3 was the only PT squadron engaged in the defense of the Philippines, and based at Bataan.
In March 1942 she and her sisters evacuated General MacArthur and his staff from the Corregidor to Mindanao. General MacArthur, his wife and son and nurse and four staff members boarded the PT-41 on 11 March 1942 the squadron PT boats cleared the minefield at 21.15 the same day and arrived safely in Mindanao on 13 March after a voyage of over 35 hours through enemy invested waters.
During the voyage MacArthur most of the time was seasick.
13 April 1942 transferred to the USA Army.
15 April 1942 destroyed by the Army at Lake Lanao, Philippines to prevent capture.
