LCT-153 USS Landing Craft Tank

The landing craft in the foreground of the stamp is the USS LCT-153 there was also a British landing craft under that name but she was already lost during an operation in the Mediterranean before D-Day.

Built as Mark 5 type Landing Craft Tank by Quincy Barge Builders, Quincy, Illinois for the USA Navy.
08 September 1942 laid down.
20 September 1942 launched as the LCT-153.
Displacement 286 tons. Dim. 114.2 x 32.8 x 3ft. (draught)
Powered by three Grey Marine Diesels, each 675 hp, three shafts, speed 10 knots.
Range by a speed of 7 knots, 700 miles.
Armament 1 – 20mm AA gun and 2 0.50 cal. machine guns.
Crew 13.
Cargo capacity 150 tons.
02 October 1942 commissioned under command of Lt. Comdr. A. Hayes.

After completing took part in the following operations: of LCT Flotillas 10 from 17 July till 28 July 1943 during the Sicilian occupation, and in LCT Flotilla 18 from 06 till 25 June during the Invasion of Normandy.
When she was taken out of service unknown.
Her fate unknown.
