Launched on 22nd March 1938 by Greenock Dockyard, Greenock, Scotland.
Yard No. 432, GRT: 7347 NRT: 3563 DWT: 10160, Dimensions: 148.62m x 31.09m.
21st September 1940 – bombed and damaged in Alexandria harbour while awaiting her sailing for Malta with supplies. September 1941 - Left the Clyde and delivered a full cargo to Malta together with 245 troops. 26th December 1941 - sailed from Malta for Alexandria. 16th January 1942 - Made another run to Malta, arriving there on 19th, with war supplies and 175 troops. She left Malta via Bombay and the Cape for the UK after having her bottom scraped in the graving dock. 3rd August 1942 – Left the Clyde for Operation Pedestal. 12th August 1942 – 20 miles north of Zembra Island, north of Tunisia, hit by an aerial torpedo and set on fire. Before she could explode she was hit by a torpedo from the Italian Submarine ALAGI and sunk. 64 of her crew got clear on four rafts and were picked up by the Italians. Sources: Wikipedia. Miramar.
