URUGUAY NATURAL yacht

Built as a type Baltic-maxi by Baltic Yachts in Finland, designed by German Frers.
February 1989 launched as the MARTELA O.F.
Completed in 1989for the Whitbread Round the World Race of 1989-90.
Displacement 29,200 kg, dim. 24.60 x 5.9 x 3.9m (draught) length on waterline 19.0m.
Built of Carbon/Kevlar.
Sail area 280 m².
Crew 16.
Under Finish flag.

Took part in the Whitbread Round the World Race of 1989-90 under skipper Markku Wiiken with a crew mostly from Helsinki.
During the fourth leg in a position off the Falkland Islands she lost her keel and capsized, her crew rescued by other yachts.
The yacht was later towed to Montevideo, Uruguay and later transported back to Finland
She was completely refitted after this race and renamed RUNN
December 1992 taken over by Uruguay in the Canary Islands, and under skipper Gustavo Vanzini she sailed to Uruguay.
Took part in the 1993/4 Whitbread Round the World Race under the same skipper and renamed in URUGUAY NATURAL. Finished as 13th in the race in a time of 145 days 17 minutes.
After the race she was laid up and bought in 1995.
After a refit she was renamed MAXIMA and broke the record in the one day race “Round the Isle of Wight Race”. Took part in a race at Hong Kong and regattas in St Thomas and St Maarten.
1998 Under the name BOLS SPORT a polish flag took part in regattas in the Caribbean and in the Sardinia Maxi World.
In the spring of 2001 her auxiliary engine was replaced by a Yanmar 115 hp diesel engine.
2013 She sails now under the name of LODKA BOLS, and took part in the 2012 Sydney to Hobart Race in Australia.
