Built as a cruise vessel under yard No 6150 by Fincantiere at Monfalcone-Trieste, Italy for the Princess Cruise Lines Ltd. (Carnival Corporation.)
June 2003 laid down.
01 February 2008 floated out under the name RUBY PRINCESS
Tonnage 113,561 grt, 8,044 dwt, dim. 288.6 x 36.1 x 8m. (draught., length bpp. 242.2m.
Powered: Diesel electric by 6 Sulzer GMTV-16 diesels, 63,360 kW. Two Siemens electric motors of 19,000 kW each. Two fixed pitch propellers, speed 22.5 knots.
Accommodation for 3,080 passengers and 1,200 crew.
October 2008 completed with homeport Hamilton, Bermuda.
Building cost US$ 400 million.


06 November 2008 official named at Fort Lauderdale, Florida by Trista and Ryan Sutter.
RUBY PRINCESS is a Grand-class cruise ship owned and operated by Princess Cruises. She was built in 2008 by Fincantieri in Trieste, Italy. She is a sister ship to CROWN PRINCESS and EMERALD PRINCESS, RUBY PRINCESS was turned over to Carnival Corporation and Princess Cruises in late October 2008 She was officially named at Fort Lauderdale, Florida on November 6, 2008, by Trista Sutter and Ryan Sutter .
RUBY PRINCESS continued the modified Grand Class design with the Skywalkers Night Club moved just aft of the funnel, rather than suspended over the stern. As seen on the DIAMOND PRINCESS and SAPPHIRE PRINCESS twin designs.
RUBY PRINCESS also was the first to debut a new program called the Ultimate Ship Tour, where guests are given a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run a city at sea. Weight-wise she is the largest ship in the Princess fleet.
Current and planned cruises
RUBY PRINCESS is currently in the Mediterranean sailing 12-Day Grand Mediterranean Cruises. Planned are a transatlantic in October 2012 followed by 7-Day Eastern Caribbean cruises. In April 2013, she will move back to Europe, sailing 7/12-Day Greek Isles cruises. Moving back to Florida in late November 2013, she will sail 4/5/9-Day Caribbean cruises.
