On 19 March 2013 Jersey will issue a set of 4 stamps for Europe 2013. The theme is Postal Vehicles. The 60p value and the 10 stamp sheets show the RoRo/passenger vessel COMMODORE CLIPPER. She is very similar in design to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s BEN-MY-CHREE (IoM SG 1223) built in 1998 by the same builders. A New Zealand naval vessel, the HMNZS CANETRBURY, commissioned in 2007, is also of a similar design.

Report on a fire on board of COMMODORE CLIPPER on 16/6/2010 can be found here: http://www.maib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cf ... mpiled.pdf
A fire broke out on the COMMODORE CLIPPER on 26/4/2012 while travelling between Portsmouth and the Channel Island of Guernsey. Crew members discovered what they described as a "minor fire" in an engine's oil heating system at about 13:20 BST. It was extinguished and there were no injuries among the 220 passengers and 39 crew on board. The ferry returned to Portsmouth under its own steam.
Ferry passengers travelling to Guernsey on the 11/3/2013 sailing were stuck on board the COMMODORE CLIPPER for more than 24 hours. She was unable to dock in Guernsey on Monday due to strong north-easterly winds. Of about 60 passengers on board, eight left the boat in Jersey at 18:00 GMT having left Portsmouth at 09:00. The ferry and remaining passengers returned to the UK with the ship due to set sail again at 11:00. It was scheduled to arrive in Guernsey at 23:00 after again visiting Jersey.
