HELENE DELMAS container vessel.

Built as a containership under yard No R26 by Chantiers de L’Atlantic in Saint Nazaire for Soc. Navale Chargeurs Delmas-Vieljeux (SNCDV), France.
21 November 1975 ordered.
05 April 1977 keel laid down.
07 January 1978 launched as the HELENE DELMAS, three sisters.
Tonnage 20,394 grt, 12,310 nrt, 24,946 dwt. Dim. 187.18 x 27.1 x 16.20m, length bpp. 173.30, draught 11.42 when fully loaded.
Powered by two medium speed MTES-Pielstick diesel engines, 21,900 hp. One shaft, speed 20 knots.
One bow thruster of 800 hp.
Container capacity 921 TEU’s.
Crew 27.
17 April 1978 completed with homeport Rochelle, France.
She was the first of four fast containerships built for the company, and used in the container service between France and the west coast of Africa.
1984 Was she chartered by the Japanse Nippon Yusen Kaisha and used in the service between Australia and the Persian Gulf.
1986 Transferred to Soc. Navale et Commerciale Delmas-Vieljeux, where after she was chartered by Lloyd Triestino S.p.A. di Navigazione, Italy and renamed PIAVE.
Used on two services in the Mediterranean from Livorno-Genoa to Marseille or in the service from Salerno to Sete, Barcelona and Valencia.
1989 Renamed after her charter again in HELENE DELMAS and under Bahamas flag..
1989 Chartered by a subsidiary of Delmas Vieljeux A.N.Z.D.L. and under the registry of the Norwegian NIS where after she was used in the frozen meat in container trade from Australia, renamed DIRECT FALCON.
1998 Transferred to Maritime Falcon Inc., Bahamas.
16 May 1999 arrived at Alang India for scrapping.
