Built 1947 as a cargo passenger vessel by A.W. Setree, Huskinson, NSW, Australia for W. R Carpenter & Co.
Launched as KOMAIWAI
Tonnage 140 grt, 91 nrt, dim. 77.0 x 19.6 x 8 ft.
One Caterpillar 6-cyl. diesel engine 100 bhp. Speed 6 knots.
Wooden hull with 6 passenger cabins, 50 deck passengers, crew 17.
1947 completed.

In service in Fiji in short interisland trips. Principal cargo copra on the stamp she is loading copra at Tavenui Island. Copra transported between shore and ship in vessel own boats.
1947 Sold to Island Transport Ltd.
1960 Hulked and scrapped in Fiji.

Fiji Post has issued a set of 5 stamps in 2019, “The Legacy of Serving’ to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Morris Hedstrom Ltd”. which is Fiji’s largest wholesaler and retailer. The interesting issue was designed by Pravin Sen and lithographed by Southern Colour Print.

One of the stamps the “copra boat” has been before depicted on a Fiji stamp of 1954, she is the KOMOWAI
