Built in 1859 by Thames Iron Shipbuilding Company for the Royal Mail Company.
Ferry, Gt:340, Length:51,81m. (170’) Beam:6,10m. (20’) Depth:3,35m. (11’) 2 oscillating engines built by John Penn:800 ihp. 15,2 kn.
Service Dover – Calais, in 1862 sold to the Belgian government, renamed PERLE and employed on the Oostende – Dover run until 1872. Purchased then by the French she kept the new name and served several years more on the Dover – Calais run.
