DOVE 1633

When Charles I of England granted Cecil Calvert Baron of Baltimore the right to found a colony in Maryland, America, two ships were made ready to transport the first settlers to the new founded colony, the ARK and DOVE.
The DOVE was a two masted pinnace of around 50 tunnes, where and when built unknown. Mid October the two vessel sailed from Gravesend there first stop was Cowes, Island of Wight.
22 November 1633 around 10 o’clock am the two ships sailed from Cowes, how many passengers there were on the DOVE is unknown, but most probably the bulk of the passengers were on board of the ARK while the DOVE was more used as a transport for the equipment and stores needed in the new colony.
After three days at sea the two ship encountered a severe storm in which the two ships got separated. The DOVE returned to England for repairs before leaving again.
The ARK and DOVE for the most part of the voyage were separated, at least in Barbados where the DOVE arrived on 24 January 1634 she joined again with the ARK who had arrived three weeks earlier, shortly both ships left and headed for Point Comfort in Virginia where she arrived on 27 February 1634. In Virginia was already an English colony and the two ships were restored before setting sail for the last part of the voyage arriving in the mouth of the Potomac River by 3 March 1634. A base was established on a promontory between the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay.
The Dove stayed in Maryland after discharging, her fate I could not find.
