Built as a research vessel as one of project 19510 under yard No 6125 by the Admiralitets yard. Leningrad for the Government of the Soviet Union.
12 April 1988 keel laid down.
23 August 1991 launched as the AKADEMIK NIKOAY PILYUGIN.
Displacement 16,280 ton, dim. 170.69 x 24.83 x 12.3m, length bpp 150.18m. Draught 7.30m.
Range 20.000 miles by a speed of 17.5 knots.
Endurance 120 days.
Accommodation for 212 crew and scientist.
1991 When almost for 90% percent finished work was halted after the Soviet Union collapse.
25 August 1999 was she sold to Galship Maritime Inc., Italy (Radison Seven Seas Cruises) and the hull was towed to the T. Mariott shipyard in Genoa, Italy, were she was converted in a cruise vessel.
Tonnage 28,550 grt, 2,581 dwt.
Powered by four Wärtsilä 8L38 diesel engines, 21,000 kW, twin shafts, speed 17.5 knots.
Accommodation for 504 passengers.
December 2000 owner given as Celtic Pacific Two
2001 Delivered to owners as the SEVEN SEAS NAVIGATOR with homeport Nassau, Bahamas, managed by Radisson Seven Seas Cruises.
June 2001 sailed out for her maiden cruise from San Francisco via Vancouver to Alaska.
2004 She featured and used as a focal point for the movie After the Sunset in which Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek starred.
February 2005 was she chartered and used as a hotel-ship at Jacksonville, USA for the Super Bowl final. That year her registry was transferred to Bermuda
Spring 2006 management chanced to Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
01 October 2011 registry transferred again to the Bahamas.
March 2013 ownership transferred to Navigator Vessel Co. LLC, Doral, Fl.
2014 In service, same name and owners, IMO No 9064126.
