She is a fireboat belongs to Port Autonome de Marseilles, France. Built at Villeneuve la Garenne located in the Hauts de Seine, near Paris, and commissioned in Port-de-Bouc in July 9, 1974. She was named in honor of the young second master Louis Colet, the Marine brigade Battalion, who died in the fire on duty during the fire of Sidi Ferruch, in 11 February 1953.

Since 1971 a detachment of Marseille Naval Fire Battalion, the 7th company, defends the industrial and port area of the western part of the Autonomous Port of Marseille (PAM). Louis Colet defends against fire merchant ships at anchor or at berth and port and petrochemical plants of the one of the most important French ports.

Length; 49.12 meters, width; 9.32 meters, draught; 3.50 meters, height; 16.37 meters (25 m with aerial platform deployed, displacement; 450 tons and 655 tons full load, speed; 16 knots, crew; about 18 men, sail capability: 2,300 nautical miles at 16 knots. She is grey painted like naval ships.

1 SACM-Wärtsilä diesel engine 195 V 12 CSHR, 2 propellers - 4,400 hp (3,235 kilowatts), Bow thruster of 295 kilowatts, rear thruster 295 kilowatts. Hydraulic capacity is equivalent to forty fire engines.

After thirty seven years of service, she was refitted in 2012 with a 14 months of work she was renewed with a cost of about 3 million Euros provided and funded by the Port of Marseille. She became the most powerful fireboat of Europa. Now she is able to respond to 60 nautical miles of coasts, she is responsible for the safety of western basins of the port of Marseille and the Gulf of Fos-sur-Mer.

Her facilities include possible action on large hydrocarbon fires on land or water body and its facilities allow accommodation of an officer and 22 petty officers, quartermasters and sailors. Since she has a kitchen and sanitary facilities on board, the Louis Colet and his crew have the autonomy to participate in an intervention of several days inside the area of responsibility.
