Built as an ore/oil carrier
17 September 1976 keel laid down.
24 January 1977 launched under the name TARPON.

Cargo capacity, bale 48.790 cubic meter, grain 49.498 cubic meter.
01 April 1977 delivered to owners.

The stamp depict dust free loading of the TARPON with alumina at the Paranam dock in 1995.
In 1916 a new company the Surinaamsche Bauxite Maatschappij N.V. commenced to exploit an alumina mine at Moengo, Suriname.

Suralco was incorporated in Suriname in 1916 as Surinaamsche Bauxite Maatschappij N.V. This early company was solely engaged in the development, mining, and export of the country's bauxite resources until the signing of the Brokopondo Agreement in 1958. This agreement created a joint venture with the Suriname government for the development of hydroelectric power on the Suriname River and a fully integrated aluminum industry in the country. The company's name changed to Suriname Aluminum Company (Suralco), and the new entity was incorporated in the state of Delaware (USA) as a western hemisphere trade corporation.

The construction of industrial facilities covered by the Brokopondo Agreement started immediately in 1958. By 1965, when the refining and smelting plants went into operation, more than US$150 million had been invested. The success of this integrated aluminum venture—the first in South America—contributes substantially to progressive development within Suriname.

In 1984, Suralco and Billiton Maatschappij Suriname (BMS) signed two agreements: one for the exploration of bauxite and one for the production of alumina. A second joint venture between Suralco and BHP Billiton was signed in August 2003.

Today, they are Suriname's largest private employer and tax payer, they further contribute to the country through substantial purchases of local goods and services, contributions to charity, and support of social, sports, cultural, educational, and other activities. Our policies and practices are directed toward the promotion of trade and industry in the country as well as toward the improvement of living conditions for our employees, their families, and the communities in which they live.

2008 TARPON still in service, same name and owners, IMO No. 7527356, managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management, Pasadena, Texas.

26 August 2009 arrived Xinhui and then scrapped by Xinhui Shuangshui Shipbreaking Co., Xinhui, China.

The other ship depict the 4-mast schooner is most probably the CUMBERLAND QUEEN. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14822&p=16941#p16941

Stanley Gibbons give the name MOENGO but I can’t find a schooner under that name, and Moengo is the place where the first bauxite was loaded.
