The stamp gives CAPE HORNIER but not any sailing ship exist under that name, so it must be a sailing ship what had passed the most southerly point of South America, notorious for the stormy weather. The cape is named after the Dutch town Hoorn, (Cape Horn) by the Dutch explorers Schouten and Le Maire.
