TRONDHEIM KNM (F-302)

Thanks to Mr. Rodlie and Crichton the two ships depict on this MS of Uganda issued in 1986 are identified as the Norwegian frigate KNM TRONDHEIM and the tall ship CHRISTIAN RADICH.
TRONDHEIM: Built as a frigate under yard No 151 by Marinens Hovedverft, Horten for the Royal Norwegian Navy.
1960 Ordered.
04 September 1964 launched as the KNM TRONDHEIM (F 302), christened by Mrs. Marit Hoithe. She is one of the Oslo class.
Displacement 1,763 standard, 2,134 ton full load, dim. 96.6 x 11.2 x 5.5m.(draught).
Powered by one Da Laval Ljungstrom high pressure and one low pressure steam turbines, 20,000 hp, one shaft, speed 25 knots.
Range 3,900 mile by a speed of 15 knots.
Armament 2 – 3 inch cannon, 1 – Bofors 40mm/70 AA gun, 2 – 20mm AA, 2 – 12.7mm AA. 1 – 8 cell Raytheon RIM-7M Sea Sparrow Mk 29 SAM system. 6 Kongsberg Terne ASW rocket-thrown depth charges and 2 triple 324 mm Mark 32 torpedo tubes (Sting Ray torpedoes).
Crew 120 maximum 129.
02 June 1966 commissioned.
The class was built with half of the cost for the USA Government.
She underwent modernization between 1987 and 1990.
October 2001 she was a unit of Active Endeavour a NATO operation against terrorism and monitored shipping in the Mediterranean.
17 March 2006 she went aground due to incorrect navigation off the Line Fjord at Stokksund on Trondelagskysten. No personal injuries, but she was making some water in two compartments. Refloated under her own power, where after she was towed to the dry-dock in Haakonsvern by the KV TROMSO. It was found in dry-dock that she had scratches on her bottom with small holes in the hull a broken propeller and a damaged sonar.
She was repaired. her sonar installation was not repaired.
June 2006 decommissioned.
Then used as a target vessel and she was severely damaged in a Norwegian designed Naval Strike Missile system test on 12 June 2013 of the coast of the island Andøya.
February 2013 at Svolvaer work commenced of stripping her and clean her of all oil residue before she was used in the missile test.
Then Miramar gives that she was scrapped in Svolvaer.
