The first trainferry on Lake Constance a side paddle steamer was built in 1869 by Escher Wyss & Co and was designed by the Englishman John Scott Russel jointly for the Königlich Württembergische Staatseisenbahn (Royal Wurttembergische State Railway) and the Nord-Ost-Bahn (North East Rail).
So far I can find out she was not named only as a trainferry nicknamed by the local people as “Kohlenfresser” (coal-eater).

1869 In service at Friedrichshafen for the service from Romanshof across Lake Constance to Friedrichshafen, she was sailing under the flag of Switzerland.
She was uneconomical due to her large coal consumption of 50 kg of coal a kilometre.
1883 After she damaged a boiler she was taken out of service and scrapped in in 1885.
