FAROE ISLANDS GAMES rowing

Faroe Islands issued four stamps in 1989 for the Third Islands Games which took part that year in the Faroe Islands from 05 till 13 July 1989, while rowing not was part of the games one of the stamps shows a rowing race. Culture is also a part of the Games. The host island’s obligation is to acquaint other islands with its national heritage. This was also the case in the Faroes, where the Faroese organised a traditional boat rowing competition, giving spectators the opportunity to see rowing undertaken in boats constructed according to Viking specifications a construction still used to this day in the Faroes.
