IVORY COAST and liner

Ivory Coast issued a set of stamps in 1938 which all show the same design, the stamp shows in the center in the background a cargo-passenger liner, which shows us with three funnels. Which liner is depicted I don’t know, but a three funnel liner at that time did have quit a draught, the African lagoons are mostly shallow so I believe the designer has depicted a ship that never has been in Ivory Coast.
The coast of Ivory Coast had been an important site of commerce since the 15th century, with maritime traffic using the ocean lagoons as open roadsteads. During the French colonial period, wharves were constructed, the first two at Grand-Bassam in 1897 and 1923, a third at Port-Bouët in 1931, and a fourth at Sassandra in 1951.
Most probably the wharf at Port-Bouët is shown, she is very near to Abidjan.
