MAYFLOWER EUROPE ISSUES 2020

Isle of Man 2020 Europa entry is titled ' The Arrival at Plymouth Rock'. This sheetlet features ten of these intricately detailed stamps, with a decorative woodcut style border reflecting the time period during which the pilgrimage occurred.
The design of the stamp displays the Pilgrims as they prepare to step ashore at Plymouth Rock for the first time. The MAYFLOWER can be seen anchored in the background. This pivotal moment marked the start of a new period of civilisation in North America.
The stamp also contains symbols and secrets relating to artwork along the border including co-ordinates of the stamps location, a compass, or a symbol.

The stamp is designed after a woodcut of a 19th century illustration and show us John Alden and Mary Chilton landing at Plymouth Rock from the MAYFLOWER, December 1620.
