Of the stamp of the Manus Province, I could not find anything on the canoe, looks a modern built sailing outrigger canoe, plank built, one mast. Who has more details on this canoe?
Manus Province is the smallest and most isolated province of Papua New Guinea, 8000 square miles in area but only 800 square miles is land, the province has 160 islands one group called the Admiralty Islands in the east, and the other group the Western Islands.
The largest island is Manus Island.
Transport between the islands took mostly place with outrigger canoes, which was restricted by the prevailing winds. The North-West wind blows from November to March and the South-East wind blows from May to October.
