12 October 1935 Spain issued a commemorative stamp of the failed Captain Iglesias Expedition to the Amazon, issued even before said expedition was ever carried out. The design represents the map of the Amazon, drawn in the 16th century by Bartolomé Oliva, drawn by José López Sánchez-Toda. One the stamp are two watercraft depict one in the right corner in the compass rose most probably a galleon or nau, in the center a one mast galley or galleass
The expedition never took place due to the outbreak of the civil war in Spain.
