100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE NAVIGATION SCHOOL IN TORSHAVN

The Faroe Islands issued in 1994 two stamps for the 100th Anniversary of the Navigation School in Torshavn.
The stamp shows on the 3.50Kr stamp an officer with a sextant with in the background the bow of a sailing vessel. More info on the sextant you can find on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sextant .
I have many years used the sextant to find my position at sea, around the world. After the GPS was coming onboard ships, the sextant was used less and less.
The 7.00 Kr stamp shows us the bow of a modern ship with on the right side a modern bridge and the watch officer sitting on a chair after a screen doing the navigation.

Faroe Islands 1994 3.50 and 7.00Kr. sg 256/257, scott 268/269.
