For the 150 Anniversary of friendship between Portugal and Japan, both countries issued stamps to remember this treaty in 2010.
The Japanese stamp of 80 Y shows us a “rabelo” in front of the historic center of Porto. The details of this vessel are given on: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15579

Portuguese Post gives by the stamp.
In August 1543, three Portuguese arrived on the island of Tanegashima, the southernmost part of the Japanese peninsula, far from the city of Kagoshima. This encounter with the Portuguese was Japan's first contact with the West. From then until 1639, when Japan closed its doors to international trade, Portugal introduced several Namban products such as the shotgun, the watch, glasses, wines, etc., and the Daimyos (top of the samurai hierarchy) from the Sengoku period (a phase marked by constant wars), such as the famous Oda Nobunaga, showed a strong interest in Western products. In addition to the rifle, which changed the way of fighting among samurai, who until then used katanas, and accelerated the unification of the country, the creation of Western churches and hospitals had great influence and changed Japanese society. The Namban screens clearly describe the Japanese people's strong interest in the arrival of the Portuguese. On the other hand, historical books such as the Historia do Japam by Luís Froís, the Luso-Japanese Dictionary of the Jesuits of the Society of Jesus, documents on Japanese cartography, the Japanese language or on Japanese society, show the deep connection of the Portuguese with society. Japanese at the time. Japan reopened its doors to the world in the 19th century and signed the "5 Treaties" with the United States of America, Holland, Russia, England and France. Then he signed the Sixth Treaty with Portugal: the Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Commerce. With this Treaty, the two countries established the first official diplomatic relationship and marked the significant beginning of bilateral relations that continue to this day. Therefore, the year 1860 was an important milestone in the long history of almost 470 years of relations between the two countries, which began in 1543 in Tanegashima, and the year 2010 celebrates the 150th anniversary of this modern relationship of friendship. In this way, I would like to celebrate the issuance of the commemorative stamp between the two countries and wish that both peoples remember the historical relationship and consider the future of the bilateral relationship in the context of a new era.
