IRISHMAN tug 1978.

Tristan da Cunha issued 2022 a set of stamps for the 40th Anniversary of Falkland Liberation. The stamps show us the tugs all three valued at £1.50 who took part in the liberation.

The IRISHMAN was built under yard No 103 as an ocean tug by Cochrane Shipbuilders Ltd., Selby for United Towing (Euroman) Ltd., (United Towing (Ocean Tugs) Ltd., managers), Hull.
21 March 1977 laid down.
11 January 1978 launched as IRISHMAN (5).
Tonnage 686 grt, 73 net, 509 dwt, dim. 42.04 x 11.64 x 4.86m.
Powered by two 12-cyl. 4 S.C.S.A. Ruston 12RK3CM vee type engines, manufactured by Ruston Diesels Ltd., Newton-le-Willows, single reverse reduction geared to twin screw shafts with controllable pitch propellers. Thwartship thrust controllable pitch propeller forward. 7,250bhp. 13 kts.
70 tons bollard pull.
14 March 1978 completed. Homeport Hull, Great Britain. IMO No 7621499.

17 March 1978: Owner restyled as United Towing (Drake) Ltd., (same managers).
07 April 1982 requisitioned by the British Government for service in the Falkland Islands.

1988: Sold to Sembawang Salvage (IV) Pte. Ltd., (Semco Salvage Pte Ltd., managers), Singapore, and renamed SALVISION.
1993: Sold to Pacific Carriers Inc., Singapore and renamed PACNAV ACE under Panama registry.
13 August 1993: Sold to Naviera Armamex SA, Mexico.
December 1993: Renamed EL HUASTECO and transferred to Mexico flag.:
June 2022 is still in service, same name, and owners.
