SALVAGEMAN tug 1980

Built as a tug/salvage ship under yard no 160 by Chung Wah Shipbuilding and Engineering Company Ltd., Hong Kong, for United Towing (Nobleman) Ltd., Hull, Great Britain.
1977 Ordered as the NOBLEMAN but before launching renamed SALVAGEMAN,
28 February 1978 laid down.
17 March1978: Contract owners restyled as United Towing (Howe) Ltd.
12 July 1979 launched as the SALVAGEMAN.
Tonnage 1,598 grt, 272 net, 1,479 dwt, dim. 69.1 (bpp) x 14.86 x 6.15m.
Powered by four 12-cyl. 4 S.C.S.A. Ruston 12RKCM vee type, manufactured by Ruston diesels Ltd., Newton-le-Willows, single reverse reduction geared in pairs to twin screw shafts with controllable pitch propellers. Thwartship thrust propeller forward. 18,000bhp. Speed 17½ kts.
162 tons bollard pull.
17 April 1980 registered.
18 April 1980 completed. Homeport Hull, Great Britain, IMO No 7725805.
At that time she was the largest tug under the flag of Great Britain.

16 March1981: United Towing (Ocean Tugs) Ltd., Hull, appointed as managers.
After completing she was requisitioned by the British Government and she got orders to proceed to the South Atlantic.
17 November 1989: Sold to Dunfermline Ltd, (Boluda Offshore, managers), Gibraltar and back-chartered to United Towing Ltd.
19 December1989: Sold to Northport Shipping Company Ltd., (United Towing Ltd., remaining as charterers).
24 April1990: Sold to Salvageman Ltd., (same charterers), Isle of Man.
25 July1991: British register closed upon sale to Companhia de Salvamentos Rescatos Aeromaritimes SA, (COSMAR), Spain and renamed HISPANIA.
1996: Sold to Klyne Marine Services Ltd., (Klyne Tugs (Lowestoft) Ltd., managers), Lowestoft and renamed ANGLIAN PRINCE.
1 October.2009: Managers restyled as J. P. Knight (Lowestoft) Ltd.
October.2010: Transferred to Knight Anglian Ltd, and offered for sale.
2011: Sold to Nestor Rederi AB, (Marine Carrier AB, managers) and renamed HERAKLES, under Malta flag.
January 2012: Sold to Milverstone Mentor Ltd, (Nestor Rederi AB, managers).
March 2016: Still in service.
Deflagged from Malta to Panama in July 2019 and finally Gabon. Renamed HERRAKLE.
Arrived 21 November 2019 at Alang, for scrapping, which began on 27 December 2019.

Known to have rescued the Canadian submarine CHICOUTIMI, ex British UPHOLDER, in October 2004, and the Royal Navy nuclear-powered attack submarine HMS ASTUTE in October 2010
