For the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Guardia Costiera (Coast Guard) the Italian Post issued one stamp of 0.80 Euro which shows us a modern on the left and a older type boat on the right.
The CP 301 was the first of the class 0f 18 units, delivered between 20092014 by the Il Cantiere Codecasadue in Viareggio
31 July2009 launched as the AMMIRANGLIO FRANCESE CP 301.
Displacement 30.5 ton, length 18.8, beam 6.1m, draught 1,07mmaximum speed 30 knots.
The new class 300 patrol boat of the Coast Guard, the first was launched last July 31, 2009 in Viareggio, arrived in the port of Fiumicino a few hours ago. The new naval unit - CP 301 - is the first of the 4 offshore patrol boats, which will be launched within the current year, intended for the surveillance of migratory flows in the Sicilian channel and in the central Tyrrhenian Sea, built thanks to the Community funding provided by FRONTEX ( European agency created for the coordination and patrolling of sea and land borders), within the general program "solidarity and management of migratory flows".
For this reason, the livery of the Unit is enriched by the flag of the European Union.
This morning, on the occasion of the technical stop in the port of Fiumicino, the Commander General, Admiral Inspector Chief Raimondo Pollastrini, met the crew bound for Lampedusa where operational activity will begin.
At the forefront of its technological equipment, 18 meters long, self-righting and unsinkable, with a water jet propulsion system, with a maximum speed of 30 knots and a range of 500 miles, it represents a real operational breakthrough for maritime safety.
The class is still in service.

The older vessel on the right of the stamp shows us the CP 301 BARNETT. A high seas rescue vessel, not much I did find on the boat.
She was built in the English shipyard of Groves & Gutteridge, Cowes U.K. for the Italian Port Authority, later Coast Guard. 11 wooden hulled boats were built for the Italian Port Authority.
Displacement 29 ton.
Powered by two 240hp diesel engines, speed 10 knots.
She were delivered in 1964, CP 301 was the first boat.
The class is not more in service.
