In 2000 Latvia issued four stamps in the series commemorating the 800 Anniversary of Riga.
Three stamps depict other means of transport used in Riga, only the 30 Ls depict a vessel.
She is the fore-and-aft-schooner WIDWUD built in 1903 on the yard of P Anderson at Dunte for P. Anderson & P Osolin.
Tonnage 299 gross, dim. 122 net, dim. 127 x 31.2 x 13.5ft.
Registered in Riga.

The building of sailing vessels at the coast of Vidzeme and Kurzeme began in 1856. In Vidzeme more as 200 were built and in Kurzeme approximately 300 vessels.
The most famous were the three-mast fore-and-aft-schooners.
Lloyds 1908/09 gives her as a brigantine, but on the stamp is she shown as a fore-and-aft-schooner.

She was used in the trade between Latvia and North America.
14 June 1917 was she damaged by U-61.
16 April 1918 was she sunk by U-104 NW of Ireland, the crew of 8 was rescued by the destroyer HMS PIGEON.
When she was lost she was owned by P Anderson’s Erben & P Osolin, and was she under command of Capt. P. Melbard.
