She was one of a series of four vessels ordered by Chile.
She was first managed by Empresa Maritima del Estado, Puerto Montt, and operated by Instituto Antartico at Santiago, Chile.
After delivery used in a service on the central coast and south of Chile.
In 1982/83 season she transported construction material and supplies to two polar basis in the South Shetland Islands.
Season 1984/85 also construction material for the Villa de las Estrellas at the base Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva in the Antarctic.
Season 1985/86 used in the same trade.
1986/87 Made a few voyages to the Antarctic after she was chartered by the Canadian tour company Adventure Network with passengers.
Season 1987/88 used as support vessel for the Antarctic basis camps Capitan A Prat and Gral B O’Higgins and carried also some passengers to and from the camps.
Season 1988/89 in February 1989 assisted by the sinking of the Argentinian polar vessel BAHIA PARAISO which happened opposite the American base Palmer, and which had an environmental impact due to the fuel oil spill.
Season 1991/92 on 21 January 1992 off Fort Williams in Canal Espora (English Channel) at the south of the South Shetland Islands she stranded in which she was damaged and after refloating with assistance she sailed to Punta Arenas.
Season 1993/94 used as supply ship of the Chilean base Antarctic Presidente Eduardo. Frei Montalva on South Shetland Islands.
1995 Was she scrapped at Puerto Montt.
