An other ship mentioned on the Tristan da Cunha shipwreck M S givens the name HELLEN S. LEA but this name is incorrectly spelt as given by Mr. Hogan in Log Book Vol 16 page 135.

The correct name is HELENSLEA.

She was built as a steel barque on the yard of A. Stephen & Son, Dundee, Scotland for his own account.
Launched under the name HELENSLEA.
Tonnage 1.315 ton, dim. 249.8 x 35.4 x 21.6ft.
1882 Delivered. Homeport Dundee.

According Mr. Hogan she was for a few years in the Australian trade, then she made a few voyages to the west coast of South America.
On the Australian run she was a very fast ship, after four of her voyages out to Australia averaged only 76 days.
Her maiden voyage was under Captain J. Reid.
1892 Under command of Capt. Littlejohn.
1893 Under command of Capt. Mine.
1895/1896 She was sold to Helenslea SS Co. (Ltd), Chadwick, Wainwright & Co., Liverpool.
The new owners put her again in the Australian trade, under command of Capt. J.W.S. Davies.
She sailed from London to Melbourne also for her new owners she made the passage in 76 days from off Lands End.
01 April 1897 she sailed from Glasgow bound for Fremantle loaded with general merchandise.
The sky overcast and hazy for a few days made it impossible to get a good position.
24 April in the morning she struck a reef off Inaccessible Island, when the captain Davies was thinking that he at least 50 miles clear of the island was.
She was badly holed and taken water fast, and the crew abandoned the ship within 30 minutes.
Not possible to land on the island due to steep cliffs she sailed over to Nightingale Island, where they encountered the same difficulty. Eventually she reached Tristan da Cunha were she landed.

The next month they were picked up by the British barque DUNFRIESSHIRE and landed at Cape Town.
