NL RYN most probably RHEINFELS

Post by shipstamps » Wed Dec 17, 2008 4:47 pm

I could not find a ship built under the name NL RYN, but sometime ago I found a web-site with information on the vessel. The NL RYN is not a ships name but a type of vessel built in Slovakia.
From 1991 till 2000 about 48 units of this type were built.
Motor ships of the type “Rhein”, the Slovakian designation is “NL Ryn”, (nl means: nakaladna lod Ryn, and translated it is cargo ship Rhein.)

The type has two decks with 4 watertight bulkheads, partly a double bottom, with the engine compartment and superstructure situated aft. The type is fitted out with a hydraulic lifting wheelhouse, to allow her to pass under low bridges. Designed for cargo carrying, but can take also containers and timber cargoes.

The types of ships are intended for work on the main European seawaters, with the possibility of sailing to ports inland via canals or rivers. Ships of this type were delivered to German, Russian, Ukraine and Turkmenistan.

Not a shipsname is given on the stamp, but most probably the lead ship of the type is showed.
She was the RHEINFELS.
