Many tugs of the sea-going N. Cristea-type, shown on the 1.551ei stamp have been, and are being built at the Galatz and Braila shipyards with all-welded steel hulls, reinforced against drift ice measuring 150ft. 3 in. in length (overall) by 32 ft. 3 in. beam and draft of 12 ft.9 in. which gives them a displacement of 722 tons. Powered by two reversible oil engines, each producing 600 h.p. and 300 r.p.m., they have a speed, when running free, of 12 knots.
