BAGGALA, the most costly type of dhow, found in the Persian Gulf and the Oman Gulf. It has a richly-carved stern and quarter galleries. The stern has five windows, and on the curved stem is a surmounted horned figurehead. There are probably less than 50 of these old traditional deep sea dhows now in existence.
